Drug and alcohol abuse are at an all time high in our society – anything from alcohol and prescription medications to illicit drugs.

The effects of substance abuse do not stay at an individual level but extend out to family,  friendships and employment.

For people with addiction, finding yourself mired in shame, resentment and feelings of helplessness can be a barrier to treatment.  Starting at an outpatient level allows someone to gradually explore the life events and factors which have led to such a painful time in life.  While I agree with the disease concept of addiction, I believe that it is always fueled by painful events both past and current.    Seeking help to heal this is best done in a therapeutic setting.
